Unity FC was founded by Kyle Pettican with the primary purpose of providing families opportunities to play in a program that is cost effective, offers great facilities, and is directed by experienced soccer professionals, with the best interests of the players being paramount. After years of growing the club into one of the most well-respected clubs in the area, Kyle was cleverly hired by the PA Rush as the Director of Coaching for their 11v11 teams. This was an incredible opportunity for Kyle and his family. 

Kyle, not wanting to see Unity FC dissolve, turned to Mike and Cindy Rex to see if they were interested in keeping the club in operation. Cindy has regularly been in administrative roles within the confines of the youth sports arena. With 5 kids of their own, the opportunities to help teams travel to places like Cooperstown, NY, Myrtle Beach, SC, Sandusky, OH to name a few - Cindy was always at the forefront of those efforts, making sure the kids had the best experience possible. Mike, with 7 years and counting as the Club Director for Roxborough United SC (RUSC), along with the incredibly talented Board Members at RUSC, grew the club from 10 teams with just over 130 travel players to its current level with 24 teams and over 350 travel players.

The key to that level of growth in a short amount of time was based on a number of initiatives that the RUSC Board brought into play. The first item of business was commitment to a higher level of training, transforming the club from a recreational level of play, to a much more competitive club that continues to see new opportunities for its teams each year. In February of 2018, RUSC announced that it was the first affiliate of the now expansive and highly respected Philadelphia Union Youth Program, providing the players at Roxborough a pathway to play for the Player Pathway Program (PPP). 

Mike and Cindy have an overwhelming level of commitment to local soccer clubs like Roxborough United SC. They believe local clubs are essential to the development of players and communities. While they recognize the importance of local club soccer, they also recognize the need and desire for some players to want that next level of professional training. The problem has always been - YOU CAN'T DO BOTH...

Unity FC believes it can change that perspective and offer a supplemental club that allows players to play at their local clubs in the fall season while getting professional training sessions in addition to what their local club provides. Then, when many of the players at the local club level go into other sports over the winter and spring, the Unity FC team will begin its true season, continuing with their professional training sessions and entering Winter and Spring Leagues plus high-level tournaments. While most clubs want you to pick one or the other, we want you to pick BOTH! You can have both!!
